Daryl Lamar Andrews
A graduate of Chicago State University, Daryl Lamar Andrews is a noted author on Freemasonry, history, and faith. He is a married father of three, and an ordained Deacon residing in Chicago, Illinois. He has served at local, state, and national levels in multiple bodies of the Masonic diaspora in ritualistic and administrative positions.
An author and publisher, he utilizes his skillset in information technology and publishing to edit several Masonic publications in Illinois and beyond. For nearly two decades, he has contributed over two hundred articles about history and faith to multiple publications. The scope of these publications span worldwide.
His labors have earned him numerous honors and awards. He was selected Mason of the Year by the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Illinois in 2008 and Peer of the Year of Scottish Rite Masons in the state in 2010. In 2010, he was also elected as an Actual Fellow of the Phylaxis Society, the premier research organization of Prince Hall Freemasonry in the world.
He currently serves as President of the Council of Fellows of the Phylaxis Society and Director of The Scottish Rite Research Institute (PHA). He was recently appointed a member of the Underground Railroad Task Force, a subcommittee of the Illinois Underground Railroad Committee specializing in the impacts of fraternal organizations in the UGRR efforts.

Masonic Resume of Daryl L. Andrews
Freemasonry
Raised a Master Mason in April of 1998, he has served in several elective and appointive offices of Cornerstone Lodge #91 during his twenty-five (25) years of membership. He served as Worshipful Master for two terms in 2005 and 2006 and was elected Vice President of the Worshipful Masters Club for both years. Having served as Lodge Secretary and Lodge Treasurer for multiple terms between 2002 and 2019, he is one of a handful of Masons in the State of Illinois to have served in all elected offices of a subordinate Lodge. He remains an active member of the Lodge.
He has been active at the Grand Lodge level since 2003. Appointed as a Grand Webmaster, he developed and maintained the official website of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Illinois and served in this capacity through 2019. From 2005 through 2009, he lead historic research projects uncovering the histories of multiple Lodges which had been lost. His writing efforts led to his appointments as a Grand Historian in 2005, Editor of the Prince Hall Masonic Journal in 2006 and Chairman of the Grand Lodge Historical Committee in 2009. Also a ritualist, his prowess led to his appointment as a District Deputy Grand Lecturer in 2007. The same year, his administrative experience led to his appointment as Assistant Grand Treasurer. While serving in these roles, he also served Princess Syene Chapter #114, Order of the Eastern Star, an adoptive Rite, as its Worthy Patron. He was awarded Mason of the Year for the Grand Lodge in 2008 for stellar and simultaneous service in all of the aforementioned roles.
In 2009, he was elected Grand Auditor for the Grand Lodge and served in this role until his election to the Office of Grand Secretary in 2012. From 2013 to 2019, he was elected Grand Treasurer for the Grand Lodge. His election to all elected financial offices of the Grand Lodge solidified his status as the very first Prince Hall Mason in the United States of America to have served in all of these roles.
Scottish Rite
His membership in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite began in September of 1998 after his elevation to the 32nd Degree in Western Consistory #28 of Chicago, Illinois. Treasurer of the Lewis Pinckney Class, he was an active member of Degree Teams and officer of Hiram Chapter #28, House of the Rose Croix.
In 2010, he was crowned a Grand Inspector General or 33rd Degree Mason of the United Supreme Council, Northern Jurisdiction, Prince Hall Affiliation as was appointed the first editor of the Scottish Rite Clarion Magazine for the Orient of Illinois. In 2010, he was selected Peer of the Year for the State of Illinois. He received the Meritorious Service Awards in 2012. His local service led to his appointment as the editor of the Bulletin for the United Supreme council in 2019 and elevation to Emeritus ranks of the United Supreme Council the following year.
A Sovereign Grand Inspector General, he remains active in Western Consistory #28, the Illinois Council of Deliberation, and the United Supreme Council. He continues to serve as editor for the Clarion and the Bulletin while serving as the Chairman of the Publications Committee of the United Supreme Council. The works of this committee include the Scottish Rite Reflections and The Dove and the Quill series.
York Rite & The Shrine
His membership in the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine began in 1999. He was created a Noble of Arabic Temple #44 of Chicago, Illinois in February of 1999. He remains an active member of the Temple.
He has been active since 2002 in the York Rite of Freemasonry. A member of Eureka Chapter #3, Royal Arch Masons, he has served in all elected offices of the Chapter including Secretary and Treasurer. The charter webmaster for the Grand Chapter in 2002, he served in this role while serving as Secretary for the Chapter. He was elected Excellent High Priest in 2005 leading Eureka to Chapter of the Year of the Grand Chapter. He served in multiple appointed offices until his election as a Grand Trustee for the Grand Chapter in 2012. He was rewarded with the distinction of an Honorary Past Most Excellent Grand High Priest in 2015 for his labors.
Membership in the Royal and Select Masters and the Knights Templar were completed in 2014. Joe Shoto Council of Royal and Select Masters and Godfrey Commandery, Knights Templar became his other York Rite homes. He was elected Worthy Joshua for the Alpha Omega Court, Heroines of Jericho in 2017. He continues to write, research and publish the history of the Prince Hall Affiliated York Rite bodies.
The Phylaxis Society
The Phylaxis Society is an international research organization with a focus on the history of Prince Hall Freemasonry. A member since 2006, he organized the first local Chapter of the society in the State of Illinois in March of 2008. He was the charter President of the Excelsior Chapter, now the Brian L. Abrams Sr. Chapter, of the Phylaxis Society and has served as its leader for multiple non-consecutive terms. A perennial presenter at annual sessions of the organization, he was elected an Actual Fellow in 2010 and now serves as the President of the Council of Fellows of the Phylaxis Society. He was most recently appointed Director of the Scottish Rite Research Institute (PHA) in May of 2024.
